Spare a thought for the people of North-East

People of North-East(NE) India have also given their faith in the hands of Mr. Modi. Assam has seen unprecedented resurgence of BJP in the elections. Connecting the 7 sisters states to main stream India should be in the agenda.....if not in the first 100 days then may be in 200 days. No one will complain as the wait has been everlasting.

Key elements that can solve lot of issues -

1) Infrastructure - 1 flyover takes 5-10 years to be built in NE. Comparing this with the flyovers in Delhi, I get jitters. Roads are washed away by rains and floods. Railway connectivity has not improved much in the last 30 years. So, positive initiatives are long due.

2) Creating trade hub - NE can be the door for India to the ASEAN countries. With growing Chinese influence in the region, it’s critical for India to take this seriously and built good relation with all the neighboring country through trade. Roads and railway networks should be developed for more and more economic activities to prosper.

3) Job creation - NE has highly literate people but opportunities are limit. Taking care of the above 2 points can help immensely in creating jobs and facilitating local industries.

4) Solving flood - Every year central government sanctions crores of rupees for the flood affected people. I serious doubt how much of the money reach the victims. Hydropower plants are the solution although it’s been a challenge for various companies to execute project. Building trust and having a focused approach by the government can resolve all differences with local people.

5) Tourism – The potential of tourism is immense but undeveloped. For the state like Uttarakhand, Himachal, Goa, etc. tourism is a major contributor to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Unfortunately, many part of North-East are not accessible to the tourist due to various problems and the industry has hardly lived upto its potential. Efforts can change the entire scenario. more

Pranjal da that's a major political issue and I was just expressing my views only on ways for economic development. Illegal Migrants is a bigger subject on its own. more
What about Illegal Migrant Issue, NRC? more
Yes, the North Eastern States have been neglected since long. Better transport connectivity both by road and rail, will not only help the local population but also improve Indian tourist from enjoying the beauty of these states.Better mobile and internet connectivity will help in developing the hidden talents and culture of the people of North east. more
