Staffing of Peons in Govt Offices - Inputs on Solutions
In a large majority of Government offices in Delhi and elsewhere through out the country, it is common to find Class III (earlier categorized as class IV) staff sitting idle, in many cases just waiting. Most of them spend their days just sitting mostly, opening doors, a few of them serve tea, but overall do limited productive work. Many of these jobs are redundant as there are more people than needed in most of these roles.
Not only it is ineffective deployment of tax payer's money but also poor use of human resources. Such jobs also make individual lethargic and some of them also start to play the role of middlemen in Government offices they work at.
We would like to seek your inputs on how this vast pool of people can be rationalized, effectively re-deployed, re-trained and skilled to do more productive work.
