Standardisation of hospital charges

I have been tracking that LocalCircles has been discussing the issue of hospital standards esp around bill and billing but the medical health and consumer bis departments are failing to listen to people. May be they have other interests.

Every hospital room has a different rate card for the same service:-

See attached A Doctor's Visit in a Shared room costs Rs 1000-2000
A Doctor's Visit in a Suite Room Costs Rs 2500

With such variance in charges:-

A surgery that can cost X in a general room can cost 2x in a Private room.
This is within the same hospital.

This needs to be standardised and fixed. Room is real estate. Treatment is healthcare. Why isnt the Govt separating them.

Do lots of netas own hospitals?

Please stand up friends more

Most of the corporate hospitals have investment of netas, hidden or open, businessmen. They have only one outlook, to earn money, however they do provide facilities, which are not available in government or small private hospitals and that's why they are surviving. They shouldn't charge differently for same services across different rooms. Room charges may vary. The reasons they give is that are charging discounted rates in general and semipvt wards. The day netas investment will go down, things might improve. more
if charges are different from what is manifest; if services actual are different from what is manifest; there is a failure; which needs to be challenged! however, if they publizh and charge as published! can we challenge!!! more
Nationalise healthcare services please! more
We all question the fees of a doctor. Has anyone public/ government questioned the fees of a lawyer. The doctor is at the receiving end and even gets beaten up despite trying his level best to save a life. more
There is no comparison as the lawyer's fee remains the same for all but the statistics mentioned here show the Doctors charge vary more
This is the same issue with all hospitals based on the room which you take the charges are also based on that for the same treatment.Only thing is that in the higher cost rooms you may get lot of personalised service more
