Standards for child car seat
I fail to understand why in India when children are travelling in India, car seats are not mandatory.
Can't BIS or Road Ministry make it mandatory for children to be in a car seat like in the west. The cars are smaller so car seat can be more compact. Would be better than nothing.
I see kids on front seat in lap all the time. And now the speeds are increasing.

One's love for his child, and not fear of the law, should be the motivating factor for installing child seats. And by law, all taxicabs should be compelled to carry one child seat which can be installed when needed. more

An excellent suggestion to have secured seating for children in vehicles, such as cars etc. However, more precaution needs to be exercised when children ride two-wheelers as pinion-riders. One shudders to see two children sandwiched between two adults on a two-wheeler.... more

Children in the front seat is a very common sight. What is more disturbing is to see children in the driver's lap wedged against the steering wheel or even worse holding the steering wheel. Talking about Traffic rules , less said the better . Look at the attachment . This is not in any one State or town . It is uniform to India isn't it ? Have any traffic officers tried to stop it ? There are much more to be done by the traffic personnel. The list will be never ending . It will be a good idea to list such which need top priority right now , so that it can be noted by the Circles Manager to be passed on. It will not be wise on our part to add to the list . On the contrary we must strive to make the traffic police to be more vigilant. more
