Standards for ice

In India 99% of ice used by vendors is very unhygienic, has faecal matter in many cases and leads to lot of people falling ill. Used in all road side drinks, juice, milkshake, water stands.

Can fssai please make it mandatory to only use packaged ice. I am sure if thats done many players will get in this trade and prices will become very affordable. This is an industry in most countries.

Welcome insights from all and action from Fssai. Pleas more

Agreed. This is essentially required to control. Awareness and measures will certainly improve the hygienic condition and in presence of multiple standard payers, it can be affordable also. However, hygiene and cost should not be compared more
Agree with you. Specially in summer this causes major health problems. Not just ice but almost all the food items in our country need very strict monitoring. Hygiene, quality, adulteration and reckless pricing have been the biggest threats and the result is one million new cancer patients (mostly women & children) every year! more
Agreed. To be implemented, Cost is not the criterion. compliance to Hygenity is utmost mportant. Cost will come down once compliance is ensured more
Hygiene conscious consumers should buy from Hygienic locations (stores and restaurants with A/c hopefully) - Please don't push to implement measures in roadside vendors which will make their products unaffordable for the vast majority of our population ... You can afford to pay 100/- for sugarcane juice .... the masses want it for 10/- .... what hygiene can you expect ? more
