STANDARDS IN HOME STAY
I agree. Most of the home stays that are run are small houses converted from the owner's residence with no concern for safety, comfort or hygiene. They are only out to make a quick buck . We have personally experienced such ramshackle places passing of as home stays. Greed and demand for places has taken precedence. The OYO's and Go Ibibo's also do not enforce rules properly. They want only commission. Recently we stayed in a hotel in Coimbatore which was a hole in the wall with dirty linen and bathrooms. Added to this all kinds of shady deals goes on. Mind you this Go certified! We got it for a low price and we opted since we stayed for the day. Authorities must enforce the rules so that image of the Country does not get sullied by such fellows.

The OYO and Go Ibibo like concerns are appointed commission agents for those places which are completely sub-standard having no takers in usual course. They are appointed canvassing agents for such places against heavy commission, who in return make all efforts to lure the customers by displaying manipulated pictures of the rooms offered which have no resemblance with the actual one leaving no option for the visitors on arrival but to compromise and curse these mediators. We had also such an experience in Delhi last year and after exchanging lot of altercations with the concerned hotel management, we could get better place to stay on payment of extra bucks. Hence, one must be extra careful while dealing with these entities rather than blindly relying on them.

Agree ...some of the home stays are horrible...there are some which can be rated from average to excellent.

Pl on't undervalue homestays. Homestays bcome more safe& perfect accomodation now. Mor&more travellers prefer to choose homrstyas. If you find any discofrt with one particularhomestay pl review only about that homestay.

HOMESTAYS PROSPER ON 'WORD OF MOUTH" REVIEWS. IF THE HOMESTAY IN COIMBATORE HAS NOT MAINTAINED DECENT STANDARDS AND HAS LEFT A BITTER TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH, PLEASE TAKE TO SOCIAL MEDIA AND DRAG HIM DOWN. WE HAVE STAYED IN HOMESTAYS IN KERALA, KARNATAKA AND EVEN RAJASTHAN. WE HAD FOUND THE OWNERS QUITE COURTEOUS AND GENERALLY SATISFACTORY. OF COURSE, WE DID OUR RESEARCH IN SOCIAL MEDIA AND READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING. AGREED, THAT OYOS AND IBIBOS ARE INTERESTED IN THEIR C BUT, THEY ARE ALSO ALERT ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA. I WONDER WHY MR SUBBRAMANIAM HAS NOT MENTIONED THE NAME OF THE PARTICULAR HOMESTAY IN COIMBATORE..!!.. NEVER HESITATE TO TROLL THEM IF YOU FEEL CHEATED AND WHEN YOU LEAVE, GIVE THEM ONE STAR RATING SO THAT, ANOTHER TRAVELLER LIKE YOU DOES NOT SUFFER..!!..
