Starbucks profiteering caught
A probe by Director General of Anti-Profiteering (DGAP) has found that Tata Starbucks profiteered by not passing on the Goods & Service Tax (GST) cuts to customers, sources said.
The coffee chain, a joint venture between Tata and Starbucks, was investigated by the anti-profiteering agency over allegation of profiteering from the consumers.
The DGAP submitted its report to National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA) recently. "The company is found to have profiteered Rs 4-5 crore as it did not passed on the benefit of GST rate cuts to its customers," said a source. The case is now being heard by the NAA for a final decision.
