Start Up Employee Traits

MNC employees really don't fit in start ups. Can we please have a discussion on what are the best 10 traits of an ideal start up employee. I am helping my partner with some recruiting efforts and the insights from actual entrepreneurs will be helpful for me and I hope others in this community too.

Also, who's a big NO NO and who's a definite YES more

One of the more important aspect of this is lack of skill on the part of recruiters in evaluation of the candidates. I have often experienced that while interviewing a fresher, the recruiters tend to look for exact skills that are relevant to their job profile. We all understand the great gap in course curriculum and real world requirements. What we should look for in a fresher in my opinion is as under ( among other things): 1. Retention: how much of what he/she has retained out of what studied;- retention power. 2. Conceptual understanding of what the candidate is speaking- based on logic or having just read and repeating without actually understanding; 3. His analytical abilities; 4. To what extent the candidate tries to find logical answer to what he/she prima facie does not have a ready answer- gives up easily or tries his best. 5. Focussed on learning environment or returns? Etc. It is the potential to learn quickly, rather than what already he/she knows, that needs to be captured. This should be followed up by effective trainings in areas identified after evaluating relevant skills existing. This would give confidence to the employee that the organisation is encouraging learning and will ensure growth in terms of competencies. more
