Starting a circle on misleading Ads is good idea.

Starting a circle on misleading Ads is good idea. To whom will they write to? Today, various legislations deal with misleading Ads in respective sectors. Now SEBI has also come up with guidelines. As regards food products are concerned one should take it up with Public grievance officer Health Ministry and Drugs with Druga and Pharmaceuticals dept or Drug Controller General of India.Aurvedic Products Central council of Indian Medicine or Ayush dept is concerned. So as one can see there are laws that are dispersed across sectors. But boradcating and cable networks controls advertsing cntent in electronic media . This part is ASCI trying to take care without much results. Print Media Press council is concerned but much less has been done by them.

Therefore I suggested an umbrella code of adverting standards covering genral principles and ethics to be adhered to in mandatory manner by manufacturers, advertisers, publishers, wholesalers and retailers and endorsing celebrities.

The new Consumer Protection Bill takes care of most of this; Once it becomes an Act we may then need need to go for an advertising code for print and electronic media more

Asha Rathi, why Dr. Batra should be arrested? Just because you say so? more
It is true that most of the advertisements are misleading one. There should be a body to receives points raised by the people and if found correct should act upon. We cannot rectify such things by way of agitation which now seems to be the way of life. When we have a democratic Govt and that taxes are paid by us it is the duty of the Govt to take initiatives for social betterment. Any agitation from the people should be considered as the Govt's failure. Thanks more
arrest dr. Batra more
