Issues with Current State of Agriculture in India
1. Availability of water is an issue
2. Electricity is not available throughout the day
3. Electricity is costly
4. Farmers unaware about the right product to be sown according to their soil
5. Non availability of good quality seeds and manure
6. Farmers don’t get the market price for their produce
7. Lack of energy efficient use of modern technology
8. ‘Zamindars’ eating into the system
9. Loans availability is very tough
10. No major stress on research and development
11. Crops are completely dependent on the monsoon
12. Bad ware housing facilities
13. Inaccurate weather forecast
14. Exorbitant cost of Fertilizers, Pesticides, Herbicides and their availability
15. Lack of proper infrastructure facilities
16. No counselling sessions available to the farmers
17. Inefficient supply chain management
18. Lack of awareness among the farmers
19. Lack of continuing education facility in Agriculture related matters for farmer
20. Traditional farming practices is not being supplemented with scientific farming knowledge & technology
21. Low levels of automation due to high cost of equipment
22. Farmers moving out of the profession
23. Lack of cold chains across the country
24. Lack of support/ knowledge from Agriculture/ Horticulture universities and research stations
25. Lack of policies on subsidies to encourage modern farmers
26. Too many middlemen who ultimately make money, neither the producer (farmer) nor the common man who is the main consumer are benefited
