I think markets won't go up for long either. Fed tapering is only delayed and not cancelled. It is now expected to begin sometime in 2014 (against late 2013 expectations earlier) and high CAD economies (India, Turkey etc.) will be hit for sure. Further, moving from WPI to CPI for measuring inflation reduces the chances of interest rate downside any time soon. So markets flat at best in the near-term to -intermediate term (6-to-18 months type). Economy - probably troughing out, but not likely to accelerate back to 8% anytime soon. And real estate in India is now likely to pay the price for decoupling from the fundamentals. This price may not be much in nominal terms. So prices will stay flat, but in real terms this implies price depreciation at the rate of inflation (7-8% by any measure)...So overall, risk assets in India not very lucrative investment destination for a short-term investment horizon... more
