State of Fire Safety in India

This saturday and sunday was depressing news of gaming zone and children hospital having fires.

Glad LC has released its survey on fire safety and i am shocked that only 2 in 10 of us have a fire safe home and workplace.

I also agree with the report where it says that fire safety should be a national mission like swachh bharat.

From coaching centers to apartment societies and from gaming zones to hospitals, we cant afford to lose our next generation to fire accidents. more

In India, we do not have any value for loss of Human Life. We do not want to spend on safety aspect, with the result, often we have to pay heavy price. This is all because we are very heavily populated. more
The present NOCs issued by Fire Departments for any premises are a big eye wash and impractical. Besides persons staying in the premises do not want to spend and maintain fire fighting equipment calling it a waste of money. The so called fire fighting facilities installed in many building do not work at all. Moreover, in the present days of water shortage, where is water to be stored and used for fire fighting. The so called fire fighting water storage in buildings does not last even for a few minutes. We are ourselves responsible for this "Chalta Hai " attitude. more
I fully agree with Ms Seema Shah that fire safety measures should be a national mission like swatch Bharat. But, it is not happening so. To take up such a mission and make it a success, Govt. should ascertain the real reasons as to why people and institutions don’t follow the rules and regulation in place. At the same time it should also be ascertained the reasons of Govt. agencies negligence in strict enforcement of the rules & regulations. more
Are we responsible as citizens who want interference of government? Corporation issues a approved map before construction of building. How many builders follow government approved maps for buildings? Corporation issues completion certificates after buildings are supposedly constructed by following The approved Maps. Floors are added illegally and builders along with antisocial elements in India are flourishing along with Few Humans who Saved Lives of little babies, admitted to so called nursing home. Being human along with following rules isn't all that difficult. We're the government and we expect lots from government and we are adept at blame game instead of looking within. Stay safe despite Illigalities of others... more
Fire safety measures are a great casualty in all Govt. institutions and private entities. Even the fire services are ill managed in every city. In many institutions the fire fighting equipments are just hanged to complete legal formality. The equipments and work force of the fire fighting deptt. remain off the track. Absentism is very high as every body has got secure job till superannuation. There is dire need to upgrade the fire safety measures everywhere at the earliest. more
