Stop Harassing Consumers who Complain

TOI of 8 September carries a headline "Railways can't be slowcoach: SC"

The Consumer Complaint redressal system needs to be amended. A consumer has to go through:
1. District Consumer Forum
2. States Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission
3. The National Commission
4. Supreme Court

Consumer complaints involve commercial problems faced by consumers and are resolved by paying a compensation and litigation cost. Sometimes it may involve replacement of defective product.

To resolve a consumer complaint as per present system which involves multiple forums for Appeal up to Supreme Court is very time consuming and expensive for a consumer. This is nothing but harassment of ordinary consumer by providing multiple levels of protection to Business men.

We request Local Circles to take up this issue with Government and the decision of States Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission should be final and no more Appeals to be allowed. As it is crores of cases involving crimes such as Murder etc. are pending.
A consumer dispute is not a crime similar to Murder, Rape etc. more

Govt is not paying any attention towards our Judiciary. See the Vacancies of Judges in Various Courts. Also see the number of pending cases are increasing every year. There are cases pending for so many decades. It shows that there is lack of seriousness on this issue. JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED. We know the date of Superannuation of Judges, Govt must start working 6 to 12 months before this date so that the vacancy can be filled timely. Also the number of Courts have to be increased, so as to reduce the pending cases. more
Now a days, the cases filed in District Consumer Forum or States Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, there is no hearing for years together for reasons of shortage of staff. These forums should be scrapped or should be well managed. more
The stages for Consumer Complaint Redressal system should not be more than two so that justice is not delayed by going through many stages. Justice delayed is justice denied. more
We all agree that the redressal system is heavily loaded against aggrieved consumer. So what can be done? How can we improve it? more
