Stoppage of Trains
Many MPs and politicians keep lobbying to get their home town added as a railway stop on as many trains that go through their city. This has led to longer train travel times for people and this has been happening over last 20-30 or more years.
Can we create a list of extra train stops that must be removed. It can happen if everyone identify a train and the stops that must be removed.
When full list is ready, I volunteer to compile in case local circle or ministry of railways cant do it. The list should then be presented to railway minister and chairman. may be polls can be conducted to ensure there is mass consensus.

The mot funniest thing is that our MPS are not allowing Railway to run trains on some profitable routes because they are on pay roll of Bus lobby besides it is easier to smuggle drugs and other substances through buses so thay are not allowing Railway to run Trains on these routes. Mr.Aditi Mitra, First we can remove your station from the stopping list and then we can think about other stations. Stoppages are provided based on need basis. We should not criticize the same. more

Our elected representatives have become burden on the country and won't bother about financial and other feasibilities while insisting on train stops. At lease Rail authorities should explain them the demerits of some of such stops. more

Many a times it was was found that such Beneficiary Stations either has 1 or 2 passenger or no passenger. It's only vote bank politics. more

Addendum to Balasubramanian K. 12859 BombayVT - Nagpur - Howrah Gitanjali was introduced in late 70's as 'InterState' Express Train i.e. there would be only 1 stoppage in each state. Thus the stoppages were Bombay Victoria Term. (start) - Bhusaval - Nagpur - Bilaspur - Kharagpur - Howrah(End). Now, stoppages are Chhatrapati Maharaj Shivaji Terminus (the then BBVT) -Dadar-Kalyan- Igatpuri-Nasik-Jalgaon-Bhusaval-Malkapur-Shegaon-Akola-Badnera-Wardhah-Nagpur-Bhandara-Gondia- Rajnandgaon-Durg-Raipur-Bilaspur-Raigarh-Jharsuguda-Rourkela-Chakradharpur-Tatanagar-Kharagpur-Santragachi-Howrah(End). more
