Stoppages by Duronto

Allowing for the stoppages by Duronto just shows that this Govt has succumbed to the whims and fancies of its ministers. Duronto was a very good train for long distance travellers and now with the introduction of stoppages the stoppages will increase as every minister wants his share of pie. I had thought that Modi Govt would be different but unfortunately it is not. more

I don't think officials in the railways would just succumb to the pressure of the politicians. These stoppages are I think technically right and also the fact that services such as railways in India have a duty to serve its citizens' to the maximum possible. Opening up seats for passengers in route I think is an economically entrusted measure and is serving both purpose of Value for Money(to Railways) & Transportation needs for passengers. more
Brindavan Express, started off taking five hours between Madras and Bangalore. Today it has been categorized as "Super Fast" and also charged accordingly and takes only a little more than six hours!! As against the four stations then between Bangalore Cant and Chennai, there are nine stations under the "Super Fast" category!!! more
When trains are stopped at stations for operating reasons (crew change, engine change etc.,), it can be made as official stoppage. Now that is done in the Duranto trains. It is a welcome decision. It will be useful to the passengers enroute and also railways can make money. There no use in running long distance trains without any intermediate commercial stoppage. more
I welcome the decision to give official stoppages to Duronto express.in fact these had technical stoppages but tickets were not issued. So it is worth allotting vacant berths to wayside passengers. But indiscriminate stoppages and quotas will kill the purpose of Duronto. It should be faster than Rajdhani on the route. more
