Straw into Gold

Burning of stubble is our biggest problem in Delhi and north India leading to major pollution and health crisis and we suffer each year. Govts fail. Talk and do nothing.

See below how farmers in Thailand are converting farm straw into gold.

Can we see govt act and some entrepreneurs make this happen. more

Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Cabinet Minister who is known for his innovativeness had suggested some solution to this problem couple of years back. Don't know what happened further. This year we didn't hear of bad air quality in Delhi. Is it because no stubble was burnt or its non-polluting disposal method is implemented. more
The straw shown in the video is not "Stubble" which the farmers burn, but it is the paddy straw which is already having large scale industrial use in India. There are innumerable such factories in India. Let's not confuse straw with stubble. Stubble is the hard part, that has roots in the earth and is only a few inches above the ground. This is very difficult to uproot and costly too. The farmers go the easy way and burn it, thus creating smoke and particles pollution. The stubble burning also kills all the good bacteria in the top soil of the farm, making it unsuitable for farming, which is compensated by adding chemical fertilizers. PUSA institute has already developed a formulation, which changes the stubble into in-situ compost which is totally organic. The farmer need not dig out or burn the stubble. Simply put some bacteria infused water on the stubble, which then degenerate and become fertilizer itself. more
Very useful article should be shared with the farmers and the people related to this type of industry. more
Some farmers in Punjab have started selling this to ready takers, but that is on a very limited scale. If this can help farmers get more money, there should'nt be any reason for opposing unless there are certain factors which we are missing more
I think this is a way forward and save us from multiple problems. We can stop imports of this, rather we may be in a position to export the same pulp to other countries more
