Street Chidren, beggars

Hi.. I feel pained when I see children begging in the streets. I do not know what I should do when I see children or mothers carrying babies or old people begging on the streets. Is there any helpline where we can inform the authorities who will send them to some orphanage or old age home. Somebody please guide me so that as a responsible person I can do something for these people. more

Take these beggars to police stations and... Do you expect Police to do the right thing? Do you expect the police to do even anything in this matter? Police must ... But does not act. Solution on this part please. more
This is really one of the issues on which most governments don't pay proper attention. Some state governments have some planning for adult beggars but they don't have any planning for begging children. I have heard that even orphanages have become a place for their exploitation. more
Generally children begging for their own hunger would be far and few. Most of the children who are found begging in streets, road junctions/signals, temple vicinity, etc are only those who are compelled by dons who do child lifting and using them either in normal form or in maimed limb form to get sympathy of people. This should be discouraged, and they must be questioned first by us and one can see these children run away, or some elderly person come to their rescue. Hence hand them over to police. more
Mr Guruprasad --Take these beggars to police stations -- so that police investigation will be done and accordingly they shall be sent to orphanage /or home for aged -- since we donot know they are doing this begging under whose instructions --it could be that Underworld Dons are supporting them more
