Street vendors robbing the public.

Fruit sellers and vegetable sellers on carts, vendors, are selling fruits and vegetables at exorbitant prices as the summer is approaching.
Yesterday I purchased a watermelon for Rs.50.00, today from the same vendor the same sized watermelon is costing Rs.150.00 How do normal people will buy them?
Markets have lost ethics and morals. People are being literally robbed of the prices.
Who is there to control the prices? more

You are the person to control prices. Stop buying for some days if you feel that the price is unreasonable. No trader would like to stock goods. Perishables should all the more be subjected to this treatment. Let the vendor become uncertain of his sale. He will be compelled to bring down his price when he sees that no one his buying his stock. Instil the fear of cost of hoarding. Prices will automatically come down. This has to be done by you and co-operation of the general public in your area. The Govt. will not be able to do anything. Please help your self. Consumer resistance is the controlling factor of price. more
It is observed since last 3 to 4 years that the Fruit prices in cities are high and not going below Rs.100/- per kg for most of the items. more
In the case of perishables , the price can't be controlled . It fluctuates according to the supply . When the market is dumped with perishable fruits there will be distress sale obviously . That is when we get them at ridiculously low prices . When the harvest and suply is planned and regulate then we see a stability in prices. The street vendours most of them procure from the unautherized middle men who download the stuff within the city premises on road juction and from there it is distributed . TO DO THIS THEY PAY MONEY TO A CHAIN OF PEOPLE WHICH ADDSON TO THE PRICE . more
Now that Adhaar card is mandatory all street vendors must be resgistered with local muncipality and an app be designed to control prices across the state/region depending on production and availability! If there is a massive effort to organise these people lives will become easier for them and us! They can be managed on where they park their Lori's and sell, traffic issues too can be cubed and muncipality can take all credit they want ! No hi more
WE SHOULD NOT BLAME STREET VENDORS REASON FOR PROFITEERING IS BECAUSE OUR SYSTEM IS WRONG WHY WE DO NOT PROVIDE SPACE FOR FARMERS AND VENDORS TO DO THE BUSINESS AT SOME RESERVED SPACE ALLOTTED TO THEM COLLECT RENT FROM THEM ON DAILY BASIS AND LET THEM SELL THEIR PRODUCT THE MIDDLE MAN WILL BE REMOVED AND FARMERS GET AT GOOD PRICE AND CONSUMERS AT RIGHT PRICE IN EACH AND EVERY LOCALITY SOME PLACE BE KEPT FOR VENDORS TO DO THE BUSINESS AND LET THE NGO OR CORPORATION BE VIGIL TO SEE THE COMMODITY SOLD AT REASONABLE RATE more
