Sub standard pressure cookers selling online

Central Consumer Protection Authority has issued notices to e-commerce entities offering for sale Pressure Cookers in violation of compulsory BIS Standards. Notices have been issued to Amazon, Shopclues, Snapdeal and PayTM mall. more

Pressure Cooker is an explosive device, if not designed, manufactured, operated, and maintained strictly as per laid down instructions. It is recommended NOT TO BUY AND USE UNBRANDED AND UNKNOWN PRODUCTS. You may endanger your life, lives of your near and dear ones, and or domestic helps. Avoid. Our nation is not yet matured to take up such issues on war footing and prevent sale and use of such products. So, while you may try to pursue the matter, definitely avoid buying such products. more
The issue relating to e commerce companies selling non branded or non hallmark products viz: pressure cooker, gas stove published in news paper yesterday 22nd Nov TOI. It appears necessary action initiated by respective authorities seeking clarification from the sellers. more
Public totally see the prices rather than the quality, and whether the product belongs to local or standard company or not?. So such attitude should go away. All the standard companies should take a decision in their forum that not to sell their products online. They say exorbitantantly the MRP and offering the products in heavy discount of the local products. Though the online business promotes small scale manufacturers and home made products to reach the public, they should clearly specify the nature of the products and should not quote MRP in exaggerating manner. more
Serving notices is not enough, we should know the end result. I believing many sub standard items, including food items, are reportedly sold on line and therefore strict action with exemplary punishment in the cases in hand would act as an deterrent to others. more
Nice step from Central Consumer Protection Authority more
