Suggestions for the new MSME Policy
Dr. Prabhat Kumar Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Policy is looking into putting in place a new MSME policy. This is to spur growth in the sector under the changed economic scenario and global realities. Some of the issues faced by MSME sector include productivity, finance, human resources and market access. There are issues in having a conducive environment for innovation and building an entrepreneurial culture in the country. Issues due to lack of harmonized regulations and governance plague the sector, breeding "inspector raj" and corruption. With rapid changes happening in the global investment landscape, MSME sector has to be seen as part of a global value chain.
In previous discussions lack of favorable entrepreneurial ecosystem, cultural issues, regulatory issues, and lack of access to proper education and training were highlighted. What are the specific issues the new MSME policy should look into? Your inputs will be valuable in this respect and can be forwarded to the Committee. In my opinion a single window facility should be provided to MSME to support and guide them in field of production marketing finance and legal compliances. more
