Suggestions to Govt regarding Delhi Autos
Guys, Can we jot down few suggestions to improve Auto services in Delhi and bring to the notice to the govt. We still do not have GPS installed in Autos in Delhi, moreover, since the Auto unions are now putting pressure on delhi Govt to increase fares and issue orders to stop traffic police from issuing challans, we can make a deal with them to get GPS installed or maybe have bills printed with meters just like in radio taxis etc and send some of these suggestions to the govt. If u have any further suggestions please post. more

Excellent Idea Mr Anand Manocha if this gets implemented with Compulsory GPS on all autos. Period. more

Tell you what ? what we can do or get done in the most ideal condition is - let each auto have a card reading machine connected to the travel distance (like the one used in metro). Each person who wants to travel by auto, can buy a card of 100, 200 0r 300 rupees and just sits in the auto without questions. the commuter puts his card on the auto's reading machine and does it again when he gets off. the money deducted is transferred to the auto's account who can get it en-cashed at these exchange stations set up at different places all over delhi. more

Auto drivers should not be in any circumstances given a free hand By removing contro of Police . Though there may be some instances of traffic police highhandedness towards auto driver . But to withdraw total control of Delhi traffic police will be proved counter productive . In my opinion AAP should devise some people friendly good mechanism to redress the genuine grievances of all stake holders ie Drivers as commuters . Delhi transport Deptt has already declined taking the resposibilty of taking control of Auto's citing shortage of manpower . Therefore the control of police should remain till foolproof alternative arrangement is made by transport Deppt in the interest of people using this mode of transport in Delhi . more

As long as they follow a set rate list and don't have to hassle with them I am happy. Just not sure if electronic printed bills and all are practical for auto wallas. may be paper bills so he is scared if he says in writing he charged 500Rs to go from Malviya Nagar to Green Park. more
