Summer Holiday Homework
Hi, I have done a small research on kids summer holiday homework. I feel, this is more for parents. So many collages to make. What are kids learning out of it.
If we see the education system in outside countries it is very kid friendly and they emphasise more on reading and creativity.
If we all agree, we can ask honourable minister to look at this aspect and advise schools to restructure the homework policy. I have written a mail to ministry of hrd and but joint effort can give fast results. more

I also have the same feeling. 80% of the home work is relevant but homework like making posters or clowns or any work involving scissors is not recommended for a student of prep who is four years old(My son studies in prep at DPS ghaziabad), besides they may include visiting places of historical importance nearby one's place which can make kids aware of about history of their places,etc. more

Hi, thanks all for reading my post and sharing your opinion abt. it. This is a general perception about schools which I made out after speaking to few parents. It is not pointing towards any specific school and there has to an authority above these schools whose guidelines these schools are following. Since ministry of education is taking many steps to improve the education system so thought to involve them so that some bench marks can be laid down in this area also. Everybody knows that hhw is more for parents and not for kids. So I as a charitable trust request you all to work together towards this concern and work out a solution. more

Before we agree, we need to know what is the education policy n till which class? I wonder if all the schools making the kids prepare so many collages and on which all topics? more

Hi, I couldn't agree with you more... My kids study in Noida and there is no doubt that most of the Holiday homework which is given is beyond the capacity of the students for whom it is meant. It is an open fact that students are asked to make the posters and models so that the same can be displayed in class rooms , notice boards and School exhibitions. What I feel is that the students should be guided during the school hours by the teachers themselves to indulge in such activities... however the HHW becomes more of a nightmare for the parents. I believe that there are individuals who are willing to complete the holiday HW for a fat fee... but what about those parents who cannot afford it?? If as parents we talk to teachers about this they also express their helplessness and wash their hands of this... The only aspect where I don't agree is involvement of HRD ministry since I feel it is more of a school malaise... we parents should take the bull by the horns and probably refuse to do that part of the HHW which the kids cannot do... and we should also pray that all parents agree to this and there are no black sheep among us... more
