Surcharge on fuel spendings
Govt. had tried various measures to increase use of cards for making payments, however it is doubtful that the steps taken by govt. would be sufficient. For an instance there is cashback of 0.75% if payment for fuel is done through cards, however there is charge of 2.5% on spending through credit cards for fuels. Thus there is no incentive to spend for fuel through cards but it adds to the cost of an individual and thus an individual would use cash instead of cards for making payments. If govt. wants to motivate use of cards for payments than these charges require waiver. more

I am using citi credit card and has never paid any surcharge. However when I tried to use it for purchase of a car I was told to pay a surcharge of two and quarter percent. I paid by cheque. more

That is not charged by Citi. The merchant takes extra money on his own. The surcharges levied by the banks would reflect seperately in your credit card bill. For example when you buy fuel for 1000 Rs, it will reflect in the bill as 1012 Rs. more

Surcharge on payments on line, whether by Debit or Credit card or other means must be eliminated so that there is no hinderance to our moving into a CASHLESS ECONOMY. Besides the cast of processing on line transaction CAN CERTAINLY NOT BE AS HIGH AS 2.5%. THIS MAY KINDLY BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY. more
