Swachh Bharat - An excellent idea until it's really implemented

I have thought of an innovative idea to keep my dear country clean - a small step, albeit. Whenever I sit in a rickshaw / taxi, I inform the driver of the vehicle that I will not pay him single rupee, if he decides to spit the tambakoo or paan, on the road, while I am sitting in it. It makes them conscious and it works. In the last one month, the driver of the auto / taxi have not spitted on the roads. Would love it, if all the concerned netizens start following this idea, and some how make this a rule, so that arguments with brash drivers could be avoided.

This is one of the most disgusting habit some of us have and some how it has to be stopped. A lot of car owners are also guilty of this habit..and it does not matter which vehicle they drive. I have seen people sitting in chauffeur driven Toyota Innova throwing a huge Camay plastic bag in the middle of Linking Road, Bandra. Even after picking up the bag and requesting the lady to throw the trash in a dustbin, she was shameless enough to ask if 'this was my pop's road' and threw it back on the road, the moment I left. Old habits die hard, I guess. more

I appreciate Mr Amol. Every one has to contribute if we dream of a clean country. more
Nothing will change until laws are implemented and penalties imposed. I see my city as dirty as ever, people as least concerned as ever. Roads and footpaths are broken, water pipe lines leaking, garbage strewn, street lights missing, traffic signals malfunctioning, construction material all over the town, -all this because government departments are corrupt and not performing. Do you really believe that common man is bothered with this so called Swatch Bharat abhiyan? NaMo should first fix the house right and then seek people's involvement. more
I appreciate your initiative Amol. I will do the same, now on. Keep up the good work!! Another thing could be, we can distribute free small trash bags which they can keep inside their vehicles to dump things. We can also carry it inside our cars as well. more
I am strongly agree with the post. we have seen "Swachh Bharat" campaign through advertisement media only. virtually nothing has happens at ground level. it really frustrating. RWA's involvement in implementing "Swachh Bharat" may bring in result. Make it mandatory responsibility. more
I fully endorse the comment by Seema Mehra, but this comment has been deleted by admin because it is not palatable to his political masters. Am totally disillusioned with this " TRANSFORM INDIA WITH NM" & Rajendra Kumar Gupta. It is all hogwashh & willgive no results. ABSOLUTELY USELESS. more
