Talented Expats and NRIs will move away

I have a feeling that many of the expat employees in Delhi will either take a transfer to Mumbai/Bangalore or move out of the country given this pollution and totally in effective handling by the Govt.

Even NRIs like us who have moved back are reconsidering our decision now if Delhi is the place to live. We obviously dont want our children growing with bad lungs.

Hope the Govt wakes up. Someone said it right the other day. if you cant breathe in india, you cant make in india. more

Thanks for raising the core issue. You are right we are thinking of leaving Delhi but the million doller question is where to go.Condition of neighboring states is also bad. The politician is looking at vote bank and cheap publicity from this pathetic state of affairs. The capital is not a live creating.Delhi should not be state but a UT. or at least some part of Delhi should be made UT. Now Delhi is at the verge of being a big Slum, people are moving out to Gurgaon, Noida, Dwarka new planned colonies .Those who can afford are even going abroad to developed countries. The capital has capacity to absorb population say 15 million if it grow in this state the condition is going to be worst.Say if it touch 250 millions you can imagine the the state of affair. It is going to be more polluted if not handled properly by the state govt.We may suggest way forward 1 New registration of vehicle should be limited including two wheelers. life of vehicle be made 10 years. Vehicle to be taxed on yearly basis no one time road tax basis. 2 Entry of vehicle from out side Delhi be restricted/taxed. Boundary of Delhi should be earmarked and No population should be there for one to two kilometers. other state uses Delhi resources. at least now this can be enforced by not converting agriculture land to residential land . 3 Pollution should be controlled by agency district level basis and should be made accountable. 4 Density of population should be controlled. Govt should control it. 5 FAR criteria should be strictly enforced. No illegal construction. 6 Area and Vote ratio should be monitored say on 100 meter Votes can not be more than a specific limit say 5-8 person. or their weightage should be reduced. 7.Metro line should not go beyond a particular distance from Delhi border. 8 Govt to plan a new city for capital at a distant place say 50 kilometers . Gurgaon is emerging to be new city. Govt should promote it. more
It will be a great day when this happens. The ambience of Delhi has been destroyed due to Industry and Trade. There is no need for that. The concentration of Trade & Industry in Delhi has lead to deterioration of Civic Services in neighbouring Towns too. Since it is estimated that growth will be in Service Sector mainly, we need to have a Master Plan for India. Better communication, infrastructure and e-governance shall help deaccelerate the Population Growth of Delhi. more
We(public) are much responsible for this condition . more
Dear Vinita, Great thoughts. Best solution is to move out of the country and settle down wherever you get the right solutions for the life of your family members. Load on the country land will reduce and the country may improve its position if it could. more
I do not think that any one will change his residence solely due to present pollution level, it is temporary phase and things will improve. All places have their own problems, just by changing the place no body resolved these issues more
Don't blame you one bit. Unless there is a groundswell of opinion converting into a country wide movement led by citizens who have no vested interested (i.e. possibilities of ekeing out bribes/making money out of human misery) but a clean environment, NOBODY --- politicians especially, officialdom --- will do a damn all about it. Every time there is a reaction when protests reach a crescendo...never proactive action. So leave while you health is intact. more
