Tampering withfood grains-millers must be punished

Many natural foods are getting altered by traders in order to sell them more to derive profits .
Rice which was enjoyed by most of the South Indians is not the same any more .Earlier we used to buy from real agriculturists who transport them to milling agents ,get them ,dehusked and sell them to traders. The consumers used to buy for domestic use.
But of late the rice is being supplied in to markets packed in 25,50KG bags with labels .This is multi crore business of Millers who tamper with the rice by processing them, fortifying them, and sell under any label. After eating this rice which can never become soft ,remain grainy and not soft the taste for rice has died down in old timers like us.
Who gives right to these millers to tamper with staple food like rice ?Whereis FSSAI in this .Are they not supposed to check the processing which is illegal and done on large scale basis.Who has right to alter food in large scale. This must be stopped by GOI before it is too late.
Tea leaves are sold in multiple choices mixed with spices labeled as herbal ,aromatic etc.but are you sure they are in right proportion not to cause harm to the body .One of my friend's wife suffered from aplastic anaemia after using these concoctions.FSSAI must interfere and prohibit them if found not suitable.
Edible oils fortified ,Various grain flours from any body and every body is being sold as healthy food.Who has done research on this?
Tampering with naturally occurring food must be viewed seriously.
All herbal madness in the present day scenario must be checked by responsible governments by a certifying authority to check the source of processing and tampering and Rice millers must be prohibited from altering food grains before it is too late and peoples lives are in danger. more

In my opinion the quality and taste of rice is no longer the same as it used to be 30 or 40 years earlier mainly because of large scale use of fertilisers and pesticides to derive more and more yield owing to make rice production profitable as well as to keep with the pace of demand of our 1.25 billion people. Hence, we are left with no choice but to adopt all kind of modern technology to maintain the pace of yield of food grains to feed our ever increasing population which is likely to surpass the population of China in the near future. However, the rice we consume are not hard and their softness is still maintained. In respect of consumption of tea and other edibles, the suggestions of Mr Pradip Saha are useful and following them would be beneficial in maintaining better health. more
There is nothing wrong with multiple choices; Along with so many new choices, the old choices of single commodities: not fortified, no combination types are also available. One is at liberty to buy them. more
This is market economy, we have to accept it. Probably no body who are able to impose restrictions would do that. However consumers can do that. They can apply their knowledge about to choose any item. We get all intoxicated materials from herbs, yet people think 'herbs are safe', they are supposed to suffer. Take the example of juice of 'Loki' i.e. bottle gourd. One baba vehemently gave propaganda about it. Some people gave their life, then other understand. more
The article written by Mr. Anil Chandhok points out that food value of Milk is lost during processing and then it is fortified. I had been associated with processed Milk industry for sometime and of the view that we should consume food including Milk as far as possible in the original natural state and avoid consuming the processed food. I would like to know how much work has been done towards causes of many frequently encountered present day diseases which were unheard of even 50 years back. I think there won't be many relevant answers. Suggest better stick to natural as much as possible and don't give much of ear to all those phony advertisements in TV more
First labelling of what is done is essential. The consumer has right to reject more
Absolutely.we need that .Then the consumer can choose. more
