Tatkal booking-cancellation

Rly is not willing to give any refund on Tatkal, it is very surprising. As per me, no sense in taking charges for cancellation as if a ticket is cancelled whether Rly is going to lose anything, the same ticket will be used by any RAC or WL passenger. Tatkal is being booked on an emergency of a passenger and Rly take advantage of that poor passenger. If the Tatkal booking 2 days before, in case we are not successful in getting ticket, we can go for other options, but now will not get time for other options. Who is there to speak for Passengers? more

When you know the rules for Tatkal cancellation one should follow the rules. Tatkal is a facility for last minute reserved Journey. When the journey is cancelled the Railways cancel your amount.Otherwise, all will book Tatkal and cancel. I feel that the present Rule is ok.. more
Sir what railway will loos if refund made after deducting of reasonable charges. However in this case one another needy person will get confirm seat. OK but yes concerned railway emp. will not get any amount. more
Seems Uma Shankar has been drafted into Railways as spokesperson in this circle hence he is siding with Railways. It would be interesting to know his view on Welfare - as he is a secretary of an Apartment. more
if you book a tatkal ticket and cancel it as per your own logic you prevent another person from making alternate arrangements. So cancellation charges are a must. more
Railways are trying to make money out of cancellation of tickets by hapless passengers, who on an emergency trying to go to their destinations by any available means of transport.taking extra money on tatkal quota is fine to encourage only the genuine passengers to book tatkal quota. But trying to make money out of cancellation charges is not correct.Cancellation charges of tickets ,cancelled before the preparation of charts should be kept to the minimum as the same seats are going to be used by those who are on the waiting lists.Similarly those who remain on the waiting lists till the departure of trains ,should be refunded fully. more
NO. RAILWAYS SHOULD NOT REFUND FOR LAST MINUTE CANCELLATIONS. PRABHAKAR NAIR , IF YOU ARE THE OWNER OF RAILWAYS WHAT WILL YOU DO? more
Tatkal ticket refund option removal is good. I always wondered earlier that coming on last minute why waiting is provided. Surprisingly waiting tickets got cnf and touts cancelled their remaining tickets at last minute after selling majority to clients at higher rates. Also if i plan and take tatkal and later cancel in 1 day, it causes inconvenience to many people who are checking out various trains and finally planning to go by bus due to lack of tickets. Moreover taking ticket and canceling had become too rampant and logically you should not be canceling if you take tatkal after waiting for so many days just a day ahead of journey. Emergency cases are 1 in 1000. Other modes available in case of emergency. Tatkal option should be abolished if I were to wish something better. more
