WHen there are numerous steps taken by these circles about unethical practice, consumer grievance etc etc, 2.If Government is determined to implement, there are few more suggestions to fleece customers a. Charge 50% extra for lower birth, 25% for middle birth etcetc b. In general compartment 20% extra can be charged by TTE, if passenger occupy window seat c. For ladies compartment charge 20% extra d. Sr citizen concession eligible age can be revised to 90 and above more

THE SITUATION TODAY IS, OUT OF EVERY 100 SEATS/BERTHS, 33% BLOCKED FOR TATKAL, ADDITIONALLY SOME BLOCKED FOR VIPs, SOME MORE FOR RAILWAY BOARD AND RAILWAY STAFF, SOME FOR DEFENCE QUOTA, SOME FOR YUVA QUOTA, SOME FOR LADIES QUOTA. AFTER ALL THESE QUOTA BLOCKED, SMALL PERCENTAGE AVAILABLE FOR GENERAL QUOTA. RESULT IS DURING SEASON PERIOD AND FESTIVAL TIME, PASSENGERS END UP WITH WAIT LIST TICKET EVEN WITHIN TWO MINUTES OF OPENING. more

BASICALLY THE IDEA OF TATKAL IS GOOD.BUT RAILWAYS ARE MAKING MONEY BY BLOCKING ALMOST 33% OF BERTHS/SEATS IN ALL CLASSES EXCEPT I A/C. FOR TATKAL. IN FACT, ONLY 10% SHOULD BE BLOCKED FOR TATKAL IF RAILWAYS REALLY WISH TO MAKE LIFE OF PASSENGERS SIMPLER more

Also, they have to provide the amenities for what they are charging. They do not even do that and ask for further increase. If you go by any train in an AC coach during Monsoon, the blankets, bedsheets, pillow covers would be always wet and unusable. Have faced this multiple times. If you go by sleeper coaches during summer, there is no guarantee that fans will be working, no guarantee that there will always be water supply in the toilets. more
