Tatkal Refund

Even local circles surveys are now saying that such a high majority of people are in favour of some refund on tatkal if done in advance. Why doesnt the railways act. See the survey result picture from link below...

Refund should not be there. Based on numerous travels, I have seen people delaying the process of taking ticket until the penultimate day courtesy Tatkal. This projects wrong data regarding demand. Also since people wait and take in any class, money does not matter here. And that you are coming in last moment and taking tatkal, just to try and see if that gets confirmed, does not solve any purpose other than your wish. Regarding agents, there are other knowledgeable members who can throw more light. Tatkal should be used by people who are in sudden need only and not for pre-planned, and seeing n number of options. So no refund is perfect clause. more
I agree with not refund ,BUT I SUGGEST TO ACCOMMODATE ON ANOTHER CONVENIENT DAY WITH THIN 15 OR 20 DAYS, FOR THE SAME DESTINATION. more
Refund for cancelled Tatkal tickets would defeat the very purpose for which the scheme was introduced, which is to help the emergency traveller. Already the system of advance booking is being misused by agents. Permitting refund of cancelled Tatkal tickets would only help such agents and militate against the genuine travelling public in need. I don't agree in favor refund. If introduced, the purpose of introducing 'Tatkal' will be defeated. Those who are really in need of ticket on emergency, will be deprived, as agents may take the undue advantage of it. more
I think it should refund the money whatever the criteria is there. This is my view.

I do not agree with the refund policy for tatkal. It defeats the entire purpose of booking just a day before the journey. And puts a lot of people who are on waitlist at inconvenience. Hence I believe the non refund policy for tatkal tickets is justified. Whoever is in favor has not given even possible scenario where someone actually books a ticket a day ahead and then has to cancel the next day. more
Agreed no one benefits, but by this action of 'book one day, cancel the next day', the passenger who really needed to travel, but ended up on waiting list and hence could not board the train, has ended up losing a lot.

Hence this kind of stricture is required to ensure that cancellations are not a common practice on confirmed Tatkal tickets.

We have to remember this policy is specific to confirmed tatkal tickets only. more
What is the logic.ifyou don't permit refund then the passenger won't get refund but he will also not travel. This means it gives a scope for tte to make money on the sly. So who benefits? more
I also agree with you more
