"TATKAL TRAIN TICKET CHARGES , QUOTA CLASS WISE and MORE ON QUOTAS :"

TATKAL QUOTA :
How many seats are allotted for Tatkal quota? https://www.quora.com/How-many-seats-are-available-in-Tatkal.
Now a days there are no Tatkal coaches attached , instead a specific number of seats in the regular coaches are kept aside as Tatkal quota seats.
For 2A class 4 berths per coach is kept aside as Tatkal quota.
Similarly for 3A it is 6 berths and
AC Chair Car , 6 seats per coach .

To the contrary , on 28th morning , in the Shatabdi Express from Bengaluru to Chennai , one full compartment with 78 A.C. Chair Car [C 4] was allocated for Tatkal Tickets . One would be interested to know how many passengers were there in the Tatkal Compartment . There were only 5 when the train left ,Bengaluru , and nearer to Chennai another 10 occupied . They were all customers like me shifting from the neighbouring compartment to for comfort .

IRCTC web says that there is no separate coach for the Tatkal quota, instead a specific number of seats in the regular coaches are kept aside as Tatkal quota seats.
For 2A class 4 berths per coach is kept aside as Tatkal quota.
Similarly for 3A it is 6 berths and
AC Chair Car , 6 seats per coach .
Fair enough, 10% or less than 10 .

The reason : IRCTC didn’t follow the tatkal charges put down on the attached table . it should have been maximum Rs.200,more on the normal fare of Rs. 1,055/ , but as a booking person Rs. 2,105 was flashed in the screen for 29th Jan. So I had to change the date of travel to avoid paying the double fare .
MOST PROBABLY THE RATES IN THE TABLE ARE OLD AND THE NEW RATES NOT PUT IN THE WEB YET .
Will some one enlighten on this ?
WHATEVER SAID AND DONE , IT WAS REALLY SAD TO SEE 74 SEATS IN ONE COMPARTMENT GOING EMPTY .

IF , SO MANY TAKAL SEATS WERE NOT EARMARKED, THE UNUTILIZED 74 SEATS WOULD HAVE BEEN BOUGHT AT LEAST AT RS. 1,055 & GOT RAILWAYS CLOSER TO THE OPERATION RATIO .
THIS IS JUST THE CASE IN ONE OF THE 2,300 AND ODD EXPRESS, MAIL ,SUPERFAST TRAINS .
IF ,V.I.P. QUOTA ALSO ADDED TO THIS UNUTILIZED TATKAL TALLY , THE LOSS WILL BE ASTRONOMICAL.
AT PRESENT OPERATION RATIO IS 111[ THAT IS Rs. 111 IS SPENT TO EARN Rs. 100]
We want Railways to come out from the red and reduce operation ratio at least below 100 .
Railways can rely and give credence on the suggestions in this circle as all suggestions are out of involvement from the members to Make Railways better . more

Dear Sri Jayakumar Daniel, While I understand your concern and rationale with reference to the example sited, an isolated day can't decide on the criteria. More-over, it is my understanding that all Shathabdi, Duranto & Rajdhani trains are either already `Dynamic Fare Trains' or in the process of getting into that category. Of course, certain unviable among them are being taken out of that list too ( I seem to have seen Sri Piyush Goel's communication regarding taking some train out of that list perhaps regarding Vizag- Sec'bad Duranto. Once the train is in that list, Tatkal system is simply not applicable. If your issue is removal of Bangalore- Chennai Shathabdi from that list, It may be advisable to raise it with Railway Board with a copy to Sri Goyal. more
Dynamic fare system, to my mind is "Draconion", to say the least. How can you charge different amount for same distance, taking advantage of customer's helplessness. Tatkal is a facility for near last minute requirement to travel and for that he pays extra and therefore he should get some extra attention or facility - separate boggy and a ticket checker in attendance continuously, that is absent in otherwise reserved compartments, is the minimum expected. I agree with Shri Jayakumar Daniel that Railways should give attention to feed back they are receiving from this and other circles to improve quality of service and make money through enhanced services. However I do not understand how Govt. comes into picture. All day to day operations are executed by executives employed by Railway board and Govt. is not involved in day to day work. RYK. more
Poorgovernesses. Rly board officials, zonal boards do not have any control on decisions taken. more
Very poor governesses, this government has no vision and time,. Earlier Railway had a separate budget, Zonal boards had power to decide ,but now very poor ,Earlier government regime we hadn't such problems more
Since the central Government has taken over ,the Railway has become so much trouble sum, even different zones likely under Central Government, now Railway has no separate budget even ,prior to this government, there were very few complaints, I don't what kind of governess is running more
Railway is becoming "penny wise, but pound folish". When regular seats are filled in due to dynamic fare system, why there should be Tatkal ??? more
