Below are the key issues as highlighted by you in regards to TDR refund for cancellation of tickets. Kindly review and share your inputs for specific solutions that if implemented will help address these issues. We will then share both issues and solutions with CRIS and IRCTC so actions can be taken.

We look forward to your inputs!

TDR refund for cancellation – issues

1. Many time the site just logs off the system when File TDR is selected
2. Site hangs while trying to file a TDR refund
3. There is no time limit for closing a TDR refund request
4. Some cases go on for years without the refund actually happening
5. TDR refund is many times declined due to non-justified reasons
6. Many TDR refunds never happen
7. In case TDR is filed for a PNR having two waitlisted tickets and one RAC ticket, only RAC passenger refund is obtained and wait listed passenger refund is not given
8. The rules and regulations around TDR filing are not very clear
9. The TDR filing time is two hrs after the departure of train, but if you do not have the internet connection in that two hours, your money is lost
10. Sometime when a TDR is filed, the reply comes saying that the passenger travelled
11. If the chart is prepared at originating station but the ticket is from some other station where chart is still not prepared, then one can neither cancel nor file TDR
12. TDR has to be filed even if a train is cancelled
13. Many times, train gets delayed beyond 3 hrs but system is not updated, hence no full refunds are granted even if the passenger does not travel. more

Even if are able to file a TDR there is no one responsible to respond to your query. The IRCTC says it is pending with the railways and you can contact them at 0361-2676008. No one picks up the phone. Why can we not have the TDR completely online like booking and cancellation. If railways do not respond in a given time line the customer should be paid back automatically. more
Even after knowing the issues you still want inputs? Sad. What you know are issues please put systems in place to resolve and ensure they do not happen going forward and then ask for further views. more
I had to travel from Goa to Shornur. My tickets were 2 A/C.No such coach on the train. Accomodated in 3 AC. Yet to receive the difference in fare. moreover, the other passengers said the train runs without the 2 AC for past 3 months. The TT gave me a receipt /invoice to collect the diff. But on enquiry at the counter, they said it would be refunded to my account. Now they say I have to file a return for availing it. It is not my fault... why should it not be automated.......? more
Sir, train no 15013, no tickets are available on the web site of 3 AC and Sleeper class from Pali Marwar to Jaipur. the coach is empty but on 22nd 2016 May the site said regret no tickets. I travelled in that coach B3 by purchasing the general ticket and then paying the difference. ticket no G-57968418, UTS 30FDBJP066 Coach BE berth 15. Similarly the ticket from Jaipur to Pali Marwar on train no 15014 are also not issued and it says tha Regret, no tickets, whereas the coach is empty. I am trying since last three years to get this anomaly rectified, but have not been successful. Mr Suresh jangir, one railway officer is also trying but he too has failed. sushil kumar kothari more
I had few bad experience too in TDR process. Few of my TDRs got refused with out proper reason. I don't know how to get clarification regarding this. As mostly train journeys are more economic and comfortable, people prefers to travel in train based on the connectivity. But losing money during TDR process is painful. more
