TDS Certificate

I am a retired person. To keep me busy, I am working as a Freelancer with 1 company from Sept-16. I use to get payments (but little late) when I make visits for advice in technical field with deduction of TDS.
After 31-Mar-17, when I am filing my IT returns (FY-2016-17), I haven't got TDS certificate, irrespective of frequent request mails/reminders (till now also).
What should I do???????? more

What proof you have that they have deducted TDS? Do you have payslip issued by the company for every month indicating amount of tax deducted by them? If yes, then show these slips to income tax officer. They will take action against them. But most of private companies avoid giving pay slips to their employees. This results in employees having no proof that TDS has been deducted. In all probability your total payout would be in the range of TDS deduction. Do payouts go directly in your bank account? If yes,can it be clearly identified as SALARY OR CONSULTANCY FEE, from the company? If yes, then show the statement to the income tax officer. more

Yes, my consultation fee directly goes to bank by NEFT and company claims that they have deducted 10% as a TDS which is not reflecting in my form 26AS. I can show my summery statement, monthly invoice copies (sent to company) and company payments (by NEFT in bank statement) more
Even if you have not received the TDS certificate in Form 16/16A, you may log in to incometaxindiaefiling website with your credentials, and open the 2AS link, you will generate 2AS and look for fy 16 17, perhaps you may find the tax deducted details. if not found, which means the deducteor has defaulted the payment of lTDS. in which case, you may approach the concerned Income tax authoriteis of the deductor. more
If company is not giving me TDS certificate and TDS deduction is not shown in Form 26AS. What should I do against company???????? more
My question is not understood:- I haven't got TDS certificate from company, irrespective of frequent request mails/reminders to company. TDS deduction is not reflecting in Form 26AS. What should I do???????? more
That means they have not paid the tax deducted to the income tax department. You may write to the income tax department giving the details and they will take action. more
If the TDS is not reflected in your 26AS, you cannot claim. However, if it is paid, you still need the Unique ID for each payment, else your IT does not get accepted. This Unique ID s a flaw in ITR, it should automatically get loaded in your 26AS, no idea why Govt does not get this done. more
For ITR 1 form, this is no longer the case and you don't in fact need the form 16 if the TDS is seen in Form 26AS. more
