TDS IN WATR

our BIS SHOULD COME FORWARD TO MAKE SUCH STANDARDS. TDS VALUE IN WATER VARIES FROM PLACE TO PLACE.
SOME WHERE WE ARE COPYING WEST.WE GET SATISFIED AFTER INSTALLING WATER FILTER.
WHY OUR AGENCIES DONT CHECK TDS IN HIMALAYAN WATER( WHERE NO POLLUTION AT ORIGIN OF RIVERS).
THIS WATER WE SELL IN LACKS AFTER BOTTLING, BUT NEVER THINK ABOUT TDS, OF THIS PURE WATER WHICH FLOWS ON MOUNTAINS .
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE IN DISSOLVED SOLIDS OF HIMALAYAN PURE WATER AND THE WATER WE USE IN CITIES WHICH IS CHLORINATED AND PASSES FROM WATER FILTERING PLANTS.
IN RURAL VILLAGE AREAS, LAND WATER LEVEL IS VERY LOW NOW A DAYS, HENCE POSSIBILITY OF VARIATION IN % OF DISSOLVED SOLIDS.
OUR SCIENTISTS SHOULD HAVE THOROUGH STUDY OF ALL TYPES OF TDS , BENIFICIAL OR HARMFUL.
WHY WE ADD MINERALS IN WATER BOTTLES. IS THAT BENIFICIAL FOR HEALTH AND DIGESTABLE. more

Though BIS has in general potability water TDS standards n permit upto 500ppm TDS n WHO standards are upto 300 ppm TDS. About hardness which is normally checked , reported as Calcium n Magnesium hardness. are not seen on only packed or RO water jars n bottles. more
This bottled water and purifier business has created so many doubts. The agencies must provide information about water quality to public. more
Moreover , all packed bottle potable water suppliers never put daily analysis report or paste it on each bottle , jars, of each batch, neither local civic helath depts checks it perhaps, like a film sensor board give certificate for screening films valid for 10 yrs such water once given approval is as if valid for life time. But forget the water quality changes both in rainy , summer seasons .this is perhaps ignored totally. On small bottles they print some analytical data as a permanent quality. There are many gray areas n needs regular checks. With the smart City concept in city n town ,villages areas needs to be installed online analyses on the supply lines at regular points ,connected thru SCADA, DCS, PLC system in a control room so it can be monitored round the clock in all seasons. N needs to be circulated on daily bases to each house, shops like electric ,gas bills.or thru media like air quality data. Above are the few suggestions for improving both on sellers n maintaining good health of the citizens at larger in the interest of all. more
Sir, you are right. I think our country's Engineering Reasearch India, Pune has datas of most of the rivers in the country, not only of today but of last centuries, if they can be also contacted for their datas, information, by BIS can be more meaningful. Almost all bottling plants in the country n selling as potable drinking water use RO technology except the water treatment plants in the cities, towns by the local civic authorities. These water is sourced from the rivers flowing from the nearby regions . The TDS level n other impurities varies with source n seasons. This RO removed the TDS n bring downs to 3- 5 ppm level, means it removes essential salts ,minerals which are required by our metabolism. Many times n mostly our public health labs checks Calcium , Magnesium hardness, TDS and E- Colie microns n see that complies with the set or adopted standard only at source not after it is distributed to each locality thru age old pipelines. Since the RO system removes the essential elements n minerals the Water purifier companies started attaching Mineral adding cartridges to make it safe at added cost. The Green tribunal has advised govt to ban all such RO manufacturers . The loss of minerals were reported by many causing many health hazards of efficiency in Vit B ,sodium, potassium ,Mg, Zinc etc. It is seen that in some places ingress of Flouride in the bore well waters causing Flourosis, damaging bone structures, deformation of bones. We need to update all such standards from time to time based on our own data base n not to be simply adopting from else where. Jai Hind more
yes it is high time BIS wakes up and does a standard for every bottled unit and also drinking water stds need to be mentioned more
