Teach taxmen startup valuation
Just like it was mentioned that anti-profiteering officials should be given access to consumer circle, I want to propose that Govt should give tax men some guidelines about startup valuation. They do not know much about how a start up is valued and startups keep getting notices about premium on share capital. We are spending more time in compliance and tax then on real business. Kindly look into this startup india officials. I have outlined this in post comments earlier also. more

Agreed. One more point is that they don't know how to value intellectual property, product differentiation (if it is substantial), and how to value product road map. more

The Income Tax Act is clear that there must be a Valuation Report, signed by an FCA dated prior to receipt of funds. If such a report exists, provide a copy to the ITO and the matter closes. If it does not, the Premuim is Income. There is no ambiguity and no compliance cost. Pleaae do not blame the law just because you choose not to follow it. more
