Teaching kids how to swallow tablets?
My 8 year old daughter still does not know how to swallow the tablets (medicine). I have tried a lot but she resists, cries and does not even want to try.
Any ideas on how I can teach her how to quickly swallow the taste without worrying about the taste? more

Nidhi/Renuka, thank you so much for all the nice tips. I have tried some of them before but some of them are new and I would try them next time I need to give her medicine. Also, it's good to know that she is not the only one having trouble with it.. more

Here are few tips that work for my 10 years old. He spends around 15 minutes in taking 1 tablet. 1. He keeps tablet till the end of the mouth/throat as much he can, then he drink water fast. 2. Kids see the tablet from all angles before taking it. Don't get irritated on this activity, let them study what is that they are going to swallow. sometimes you will see they cry and sometimes they start talking to themselves. 3. If the size of the tablet is big, he asks me to break the tablet in 2 parts, then he takes one after the other. 4. You have to be bit strict while giving medicine, sometimes that work. 5. If he doesn't agree, I tell him it is his mistake because of which he fell sick. now take medicine. 6. I avoid watching him when he takes tablet, otherwise he gets conscious. This is all I have to do for giving 1 tablet. If yours is just saying no, you can coat it with honey, or something that she likes. although I have never tried this one. more

Filling the mouth with some water first and then putting the tablet inside to swallow sometimes works better.
