Terrorism and Railways

Extremely saddened to see rhe pictures of London attacks. My daughter and son in law were there in the borough area till 6 pm and decided to go home instead of staying for a live music thing.

The focus of ISIS and other terror agencies is not India right now. We are so vulnerable and railways is the softest target.

Railways has done nothing in the last 3 years to control access and has no plans.

And after they introduce a safety cess, they will have a loss of face is something happens.

High, high time railways and public markets get more prepared. We all remember 2008 and 2013, happens the year before election year. 2018 is not far. more

In Hubballi Railway station there are many areas through which we can enter in. These points has to be blocked. In Entry and Exit point CCTV Cameras / Scanners has to be installed. Ticket less travelers / Beggars has to be bared from platform and in railway. CCTV Cameras has to be installed in railways. Pantry staff has to taken into confidence and train them. Because they are frequently reach or interact with all passengers. Sweepers also taken into confidence. RPF and TT also play major roll. Best way is there should not be easy entry or exit in platform. more
In India there is a word called "JUGAD" any new law has a way out as the law makers them selves have to break them most of the time to facilitate them selves or their kins and supporters. How many times have you seen the supporters of Netas coming to welcome them or see them off on the platforms or airports. Do you know that they don't even bother to buy a platform ticket to enter the station. more
Strict access control and thorough scanning of all passengers and baggage including bags/purses etc. before boarding or even before entering/leaving the railway premises is of paramount importance to identify and prevent suspicious elements gaining entry.Scanners and CCTV Cameras on major stations should be put at each platform instead of main exits where the crowd becomes unmanageable for any worthwhile scrutiny.A constant and close monitoring of all passengers can often give vital clues.A System should be established by encouraging general public to report all suspicious activities or individuals without any fear and undue harassment. more
Railways has 100's of exit & entrance, Take the example of Bangalore City rly station. One can enter/exit from side on Platform 1(near 2 wheeler stand), one can walk from good shed side, no check, Back side platforms are also vulnerable. One can get into trains which comes from Railway YARDS. more
Security check should be done stringently of passengers in all stations. I was told that in China only passengers can enter the boarding platform . Could consider such measure here.Special assistance could be given to senior citizens and differently abled persons. more
Only ticket holders to be allowed to enter the platform area like punching system more
