The Association of Democratic Reforms is reported to have compiled data about the value of assets of various MLAs in Bihar Legislature as declared before consecutive elections commencing from those held in 2005 as well as similar data of MPs . The jump in value of assets appears to be steep being double to seven times. This data is based on their self-declarations and may not have included assets acquired and held benami. The legitimate earnings of these MLAs and MPs would obviously have not enabled them to acquire assets of such values. The extent of corruption is evident from the data referred to above. All this analysis stands covered in an Article written by Mr.Mohan Guruswamy and published in 'Deccan Chronicle' of 11-11-15.
Anti-corrption Bureaus are, perhaps, not allowed to launch prosecution proceedings against MLAs and MPs and confiscate their ill-gotten assets.
If at the level of MPs and MLAs (who do not formally take part in decision-making) the is of the order mentioned above what about the Ministers who do take part in decision-making?
On reflecting over this position it appears that Anti-corruption authorities may better be made independent and autonomous like Judiciary making necessary amendment of the Constitution. more

There is jungle rule in the state of Bihar since Lalu became the Chief Minister. Without exampleary punishment the process has no meaning. more
A study should be carried out to see if the provisions of Disproportionate Assets can be applied to our MPs/MLAs- even those who may not have held any ministerial post should be covered and investigated under this clause. Col (Dr)A P Gupta (Retd) Secunderabad more
All political parties are same though they show bitterness among them to the public. When salaries of MP or MLA have to be increased, they take unanimous decision. Why not a single MP is raising voice to abolish subsidy in parliament canteen? Why the well salaried and eronomous facilities provided MPs should get subsidised food where public is facing sky rising price? more
There is a bonhomie amongst all in the political class and hence we should not expect any legislation to investigate, confiscate the ill gotten wealth, and jail the errant. Nor shall we expect them to free the police, CID, CBI, ED from their clutches. So the hard reality is that corrupt political class can not be corrected. Then, why only other corrupt citizen shall be identified, investigated and punished? Then, how to develop the nation as corruption free? more
Illegal property in respect of the all MLAs/MPs should be attached and stringiest action may be initiated against all concerned. Then only we can come in the list of the developed nation. and uproot the poverty. Similarly, court cases in any circumstances should be finalized within a maximum time of one year. Similarly, the traffic Police in most of the states, wanted to collect by way of e-challans inr 1.035/- it is too high, even government itself not paying old aged pension inr 1000/-. Very few software engineers, government employees, engineers, merchants and Doctors may draw lakh of rupees as wages and rest of the people may earn for their lively hood, such of the people to pay as penality of Rs.1000/- is become difficult. more
