There is no role of FSSAI in controlling or monitoring the price of food products. It is good platform to share the unfair trade practices in the public interest but the majority of products of daily needs, right from Aggarbati, Broom, Detergent, Stationery, Food, Electrical items, Hardwares, Shoes etc are being sold without MRP and being charged heavily that should also shared. The major leading indian as well as MNC brands are fleecing the public by marking dual MRPs for Fast Moving Consumer Goods, in which food products are on the top as they have to consumed by all segments without any fear from enforcement agencies i.e Legal Metrology Department. more

Modi government is trying all sorts of things to improve the economy, but there is no result, because there is no strict discipline by the departments. more
We are living in a total messed up country and the things won't get sorted out by our great FM's fingering with percentages in the new GST. The country requires a totally brand new system in the form of a single Transaction Tax which is a simple but robust way and that can take care of the whole country in a transparent way with the participation of every citizen and ends this chaotic life so that the whole country can devote its time for productive & peaceful life of everyone. At present there is no institution/ no mechanism to check the MRP of any product regularly. Neither BIS nor FSSAI are concerned to this issue. It is the manufacturers fix the MRP and traders fix the sale price at his convenience. more
Kathuriaji, Exploitation and fleecing the unwary is our second nature. It happens at every stage and in every segment of society. If GST comes all traders or hotelier etc add GST over the current tax charged and want to pocket the off sets of tax. The example of petrol pricing is the best example of Govt jois in the process. Do a product price have 70% as tax component? We want govt to take action. We do not want to self regulate even on road junctions and create chaos if policeman is visible. The Industry and trade associations should play some constructive role and enforce some kind of probity in business practices. more
Just a small query regarding MRP! How is the MRP of a item determined and who fixes it? Is it completely the coy's prerogative alone? more
yes for open market items. for controlled items Govt decides. more
