Anti-Corruption day is a good idea. But , it may never happen, because Corruption is so rampant , it is in the blood of Most Government Employees. Why talk of Police department, Excise department, etc, The Indian Judiciary has appeals and cases pending for over 25 years of a common man. But Salman khan can get his case admitted and fast tracked to be decided within one year. That shows that the Judiciary can work fast but only for Rich people. most complaints that are sent to vigilance now come from disgruntles employees and competitors who lose business. These have some merit but cannot become the overwhelming source of information. Vigilance needs to research and identify processes that promote delay and hence force corruption. more

If Vigilance Departments want, they can reduce low level (and even some high level) corruption substantially. They can invite the public to complain thru email/ SMS about corrupt officeials. Against whichever officials there are maximum number of complaints, they can lay traps and try to catch them red-handed, say 3 times, and if they escape it all, they can come to a reasonable conclusion that the complaints are motivated. Fear of this happening itself will reduce corruption substantially. more
