Thumbs up on new DISCOM rules

Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) notifies compensation policy. Discoms liable to compensate consumers for power supply failures; consumer will be paid Rs 50/hour for 1st 2 hours of unscheduled cut & Rs 100/hour after 1st 2 hours of unscheduled power cut.

It force discoms to resolve issue on intimidate basis. now a days they will take 3-6 hr to resolve issue. more
Let's wish such rules are executed appropriately. It's not so simple as notified. It need to attach a monitor on every meter to record the breakdown time. more
How this rule will be regulated and implemented, that is more important. How it will be dealt with when avoidable breakdowns take place and power is restored in 59 minutes or less. How the time recording will take place. All such information could be downloaded from the electronic meters and these could be reproduced in the monthly electricity bill together with consideration of compensation to the consumers every month. Will it happen in this manner for domestic consumers? In my opinion, the fixed charges claimed by DISCOM at a very high rate, as now permitted should be waived off for any failure or interruption for more than 10 minutes on any day in the month of billing cycle. more
Thumbs up! more
Thanks DERC. This is one aspect of the power supply failure that is being tackled through the particular decision. Also, it will go a long way if you could decide soonest possible that none of DISCOMS will raid any premises under the guise of power theft unless and until DERC ensures that none of the employees of the power supplying companies is honest and does not take bribe and is not indulging in raids just to negotiate the penalty. Or, allow the consumers to raid their houses to dig out the bribe money and assets in return. more
