Ticketing Advance & Tatkal reservation

Advance reservation Waitlisted tickets should get confirmed before tatkal booking starts so that passengers' simultaneous tatkal reservation could be avoided. I observed advance reservation waitlisted tickets getting confirmed after tatkal reservation since charts are prepared only 6 hours before the scheduled departure of trains. This greatly inconviniences passengers. Hence reservation charts should be prepared 24 hours before the scheduled departure of trains & as such refunds on cancelled tickets should be allowed only if tickets are cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. If waitlisted tickets by advance reservations are confirmed, such passengers need not worry of tatkal booking which could decongest website greatly for desiring passengers not having confirmed accommodation. Once charts are prepared tickets cannot be cancelled to get 50% refund but have to submit TDR FILED immediately before tatkal reservation commenced failing which no refunds should be allowed.
50% of accommodation should be earmarked for tatkal booking. Agents are not required for booking tickets as everyone has internet connection on their Mobile Phone. Those who can't book online should book tickets only at railway booking counters with a Xerox copy of ID proof signed & attached with the reservation slip. Malpractices should be severely dealt with imprisonment & hard labour more

Chart be prepared at least 30 minutes before the tatkal for that train starts to enable to take decision to go for tatkal. more
Fully agreed with the RK Krishnan. Out of worry, many wait listed passengers go for Tatkal Booking spending extra money & also loose on cancellation of normal booked ticket, even it might bet confirmed on chart preparation. Once this thing has happened to me. I had wait listed ticket from Hyderabad - Vadodara but since it was not confirmed , i had purchased ticket from Hyderabad - Mumbai - Vadadara. However, in last moment it got confirmed & I had to cancel alternate one, spending unnecessarily few hundreds of Rupees. more
