Tickets for Children

As per the current rules, children between 5 and 12 are charged full fare, if and only if it is requested for at the time of booking. Instead, railways should make it mandatory for children between 5 and 12 to necessarily have ticket, especially in AC Chair cars. the reason is as follows:
Parents do not buy ticket for them. Since the children cannot be kept on their laps, the parents happily make them sit on the dining tray. in addition to breaking the table, this causes a lot of inconvenience to the passengers sitting nearby. Even if some passenger tells them not to make them sit on the tray table, they don't listen. And the TTE is least bothered.
In fact, the TTE should impose a penalty on any parent whose kids sit on the tray table. more

Very strongly agree to the point raised. Additionally more than one child should not be allowed to travel without any birth. You carry half ticket but with a birth. more
Should be made compulsory. Fine should apply on disobedience ! more
while commenting please confine to the matter only. Things to be used for it meant for. so half ticket concept should be there for the children between 5 - 12 . more
I totally agree wit Padmanabhan . I have my self seen the children heavier than what the Dining tray [mind you padmanabhan has given the right name and not Table - as it is delicate ]can hold . We are helpless and the TTE as well, a she makes his rounds only when there are passengers entraining in stations. But the attaaaaaaaendants and boys cleaning keep going about . The could be trained to note such incidences and report to the TTE . Or there should be a helpline so that matter can be reported and save the life of the Dinning Tray . Yes the revised childrates doesn't mention anything about reservation charges . Some have sympathised and advocated for not charging the 5 -12 age group for reservation . , HOW RIDICULOUS , THE RAILWAYS WANTS TO ROB PETER AND PASS ON TO PAUL ? It is not at all advisable for a growing nation like India. RAILWAYS HAS BEEN GIVING FREEBEES FOR MANY , WHY NOT ADD ONE MORE CATEGORY AND RID WITH THE PROBLEM . SO THAT THE CO PASSENGERS CAN TRAVEL PEACEFULLY AND COMFORTABLY. more
Mr.Padu, I think ur a brahmin Iyengar fly. You are comfortable with ur fat ass. u need no disturbance. What about the citizens who thrive for a little dream for fantasies for their children. These are the people who Needs, Roti, Kapada, aur Makkan. No Chaiwalas Bakkwas Mesmerising speech. Mr Thomas Chettiar - One of our country's problem, a critical one at that, is population. If we cannot support a child's upbringing then we have no right to beget a child. It is definitely not fair on the child to force it to live in sub-optimal conditions as well as not fair on society to shift your burden to them to handle apart from being totally irresponsible. Condoms are not expensive and copper T and free condoms are available for the asking from Government family planning centres and / or PHC centres.

I support charging all parents full fare for their children of age above 5 with allocation of seat or berth as the case may be. It is time that as a country we also pay heed and respect common infrastructure as much or more than what we ourselves own. If we inculcate basic civic sense in our next generation maybe our generation will also follow suit. Without a modicum of civic sense and a strong value for discipline in public life we will continue to salpa adjust maadi and Konja purinju Pesu. And this has nothing to do with my being a Brahmin Iyengar or an Iyer or a fat ass. Your advice of Konja purinja Pesu should be followed by you first. Respect begets respect and the opposite also holds true. more
