TIPS IN TRAINS MALADY OR MAFIA :
From my experience of travelling Chennai Bangalore [probably because the hon’ble minister is from Bangalore ], neither do people come asking for tips nor do we give. Further I am a frequent traveler of 2tier A/C to south and west of Tamilnadu . I haven’t encountered any such .
I think the MALADY IS ZONE SPECIFIC .
And also when the trains that traverse across different zonal railways the responsibility gets diluted .The feeling is that no zone or Division can be pinned .
THIS IS TO THE SPECIAL NOTICE OF THE RAILWAY MINISTER FOR RECTIFICATION. None wants to take responsibility to stop.
*With 28 million passengers travelling each day by railways in more than 13 ,000 trains to over 7,000 stations it is good to make a beginning at least with the few trains for which complaints keep flowing in.
First and foremost THERE SHOULD BE A HELPLINE SPECIALLY FOR CORRUPTION [demanding Tips is also a form of corruption] . There are helplines like for Security – 182, for complaints - 198 ,for Enquiry - 139 .
THE NUMBER SHOULD REGISTER TH COMPLAINT SPECIFC TO THE ABERATION , THE TRAIN, COMPARTMENT , DATE ; BUT THERE SHOULD BE ABSOLUTE SECRECY OF THE COMPLAINANT [that will make passengers to come forward to report ].If this numbers are busy , the called number should call back the caller immediately when free . Otherwise there is no sense in having a helpline number which is for emergency. The complaint should be registered .
* NEXT RESPONSIBILITY OF THE RAILWAYS IS TO PRINT BEHIND EACH TICKETS AND MESSAGE THAT TIP IS NOT MANDATORY OT RIGHT. NO TIPS ON TRAY by Mr. Chaturvedi.
* A very important incident reported in the circles , Kothagudam to Delhi 12039 . “ HE CLAIMED THAT THOUGH THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GET 8500 RUPEES BUT ACTUALLY GET ONLY 3500 -4000 APPROX. TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LOSS IN SALARY THEY INDULGE IN PRACTICE OF ASKING FOR TIPS. HE ASKED ME TO SUGGEST TO THE RAILWAY AUTHORITIES TO COMPEL THE CATERING CONTRACTOR TO TRANSFER THE SALARY IN THEIR ACCOUNT DIRECTLY. I REQUEST THE AUTHORITIES TO INVESTIGATE THE CLAIM AND TAKE REMEDIAL MEASURES.
Sir is there a Mafia / nexus in the railways to exploit the poor employees or are the employees bluffing to earn a buck or more .? This has to be investigated and let us be known. We are with you sir like the Rock of Gibralter to support all your efforts . But this support shouldn’t go down the drain to the Mafia.

The coditions in catering is in very bad shape. Food handling unhiegenic . Thown on the floor. It is requseted that seal packets should be delivered.Every coach should have a space to store the food. No plasic container should be allowed. The measures are not very expensive but requires determination to implement. more

There is arbitrariness in rates being charged for meals and snacks in running trains. It would be helpful for passenger, if rate card is properly displayed in coaches at conspicuous place. more
