To improve the services of Railways
1. Ticketing... Presently IRCTC charges a service fee for booking the tickets through online...this should be totally scrapped.. People should be encouraged to book through online... So that rush at booking counters are reduced...before this IRCTC online platform should be upgraded to handle the increased users.. Nominal Discount should be given for those who are booking online..
2. Coach Design... Presently only the middle berth is of folding type in 3tier.. While in 2tier etc. all are fixed type.. All the berths should be made folding type... And after folding it should be able to rotate in such a manner that all the berths touches the side wall... So that it become very easy for cleaning... It will look like an empty room... Cleaning will be more effective...
3. Privatization of stations.. Just like Mumbai, Bglore, Delhi airports were given to private players for modernization, identified stations in each state should be given to private companies for modernization... This will bring drastic changes to stations outlook...
4. Fines... Strict fines should be imposed for dirtying the staton premises/ platforms etc....
5. Rails at the platform... Presently stones are put under the rail surface.. Surface below the rails should be laid by concrete for the stretch covering the station platform with little sloping towards the gutter... So all the waste lying on the rails can be easily cleaned by pouring water and due to slope it will easily get washed off...
6. Railways colonies... Presently all the colonies near the stations looks like some jail and are old structures... All these needs to be renovated with private participation keeping in mind the business interests of Railways... Should be renovated in such a manner that it brings regular revenue to railways...
7. Procurement... ERP system should be implemented in the railways... It should be checked whether items are lying idle in any part of the nation under railways before giving new orders... So that inventory is reduced... And scrap is reduced... more

Mr. Satish Shenoy - In washable apron, it is not just only concrete. Since there is no Ballast (Stone Chips), the load from the rails has to be transferred to the soil through a proper foundation. Hence, to make a washable apron, first the Pile Foundations are made below each concrete sleeper, so as to transfer the load to the soil. In 500 meters, there will be 750 concrete sleepers, and hence 1500 pile foundations. In the concrete also, it is not plain concrete but RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete with Steel bars). more

most people complain of being charged by irctc but their tickets are not booked it would be a good idea if the ticket is first blocked and then only the card is charged by irctc where in the customer is not hasseled more

Mr Abhay Agarwal - 500 m length of washable apron made out of concrete would not have been more than 100 cubic meters of concrete - why did this cost Rs 1 Crore? more
