Today I am travelling in train no 22916 (Hissar Bandeau Express), the train has Rodents but Pest control says checked on 7th June, Toilets dirty, Bin overflowing, no Attendant, people without tickets sleeping in Attendant area by paying some money, wait listed people sleeping on floors, no pantry, Hawker selling stale food, Ahmedabad station canteen selling stale food etc. Tweeted to Railway ministry and saw message exchanges but no action. I spent 6 k on train tickets but does not look worth more

Rodents and roaches are very common in the sleeper class compartments , of many a trains that are plying in the eastern and south-eastern railway divisions. Nothing effective is done about it , since long and the situation remains the same. Are any pest control agencies been allotted responsibilities to tackle this menace ?? It's absolutely irritating to shrug of a cockroach or any other insect that may be crawling all over your body while you are asleep and then you wake up suddenly by this insects feelers and jump sit to shrug off your body, and in the process one h to create a commotion, put the lights on, or shriek in a manner that wakes up your fellow passengers, who thinks that some accident or burglary has happened. I hope the authorities takes note of this . I sometimes wonder what will be the status of the pantry cars , where food are available in abundance, for these pests to feast on , 24hrs a day, and the passengers may be licking that food which has been licked by these insects. more

The reason of banning the photography in the trains or railway stations is done because they are not able to stop the mess spreading and dont want any evidence collected against them. The railway minister may have the best of intentions but the implementation is done by lower staff and the supervisors are sleeping at home or in the air-conditioned comfort of the station retiring rooms, all reports will show good work. I too have experienced the same issue during my frequent travel between Mumbai and Goa and tried to complain but to no result. The staff is arrogant knowing that their seniors are going to protect them. The are all partners in crime, fleecing the traveling passengers with no fear. more

Yogesh ji , the railway Minister should thank you for this report , as the railway Babus are only interested in drawing their salaries and not supervising. These are the services for which Railways have paid their workers already. Before spending thousands of crores of money on bullet trains make sure the railway men work for the salaries that they get ,that too after the 7th Pay commission. Jai Hind. more
