Toll Charges
I am working out side India. When visited India a month back . i was surprised to see the Hike in Toll charges on highways in Maharashtra. I do not understand that a one way all the political leaders are talking about corruption free India. then what is this???
as per me the toll is nothing but sophisticated way and very safe way introduced by government to promote the corruption. How can road tax is again applicable on vehicles if one has to pay toll on highways. Can someone advise me the action taken by government on the cancellation of toll charges on highways. I observed around double the hike in these charges compared to last year. more

As I understand toll is to take care of monies spent to build the road by government and private parties. If the money is getting misused then definitely something has to be done. more

But why PM can't pass a bill or an Ordinance to scrap the Toll where charges have been recovered and for eg it's 15 years that they are sucking the blood of hapless citizens by charging a hefty toll which is increasing day by day . the question would could come like how to maintain if the Toll is not paid but the pertinent point is for Mumbai Pune expressway it was having a warranty of 25 years and the vendor L&T who least bothered abt it's Quality has outsourced to petty contractors and we are facing the brunt of the apathy. Hence bottom line is where there is will there is way and PM can certainly bring the Ordinance and put an end to the loot of collecting Toll more

Present day politicians are neck deep in corruption hence all are useless irrespective of parties they represent. And that is the reason our PM is finding it tough to manage the show. If you remember 2009 assembly elections in Mharashtra where Mr. Modi was not allowed to take a meeting in Mumbai by BJP. He had a meeting in Thane but not in Mumbai.why? more
