Tomato and Onion Prices

Last year LocalCircles took up the issue of price rise when per kg price of tomato hit 60 and onion hit 25. This year tomato is 75 and onion is 50. Kindly survey what people are paying and tell the Govt to fix issues. Already power crisis will lead to more generator costs for many of us or loss of productivity/earning.

The cost of many vegetables are increasing but the benefit is not passed on to the farmers. It is being passed on to the middlemen or traders. more
Cause is Tpt Cost AND Long distance from Farming. Every Town must be self sufficient in Livelihood more
Do you know the cost of producing onions and tomatoes? Why not asking for other products prices increased like diesel, fertilisers, seeds etc. Do you know the cost onion seed 1 kg bag is almost 3000-5000. You want purchase one kg onion for 50kg then you are crying. You haven’t seen heavy rain cause damage to onions, tomatoes and many more Agro products. If small gain in farmer’s faith you will come and write there is high inflation. If you can’t afford onion and tomatoes then don’t eat. You can afford 50 rupees samosa and 120 box popcorn in cinema hall. You can afford 200 cinema tickets for 2 hours. Going forward Agri products will be expensive as it has production cost like biscuits, perfumes etc. If you want purchase then pay for it otherwise don’t purchase it. more
Shop online-Jio & OTTY platforms are offering good deals & there is no minimum order.Amazon fresh is good but there is a provision for minimum order and delivery charges are reasonable. Excellent behavior of delivery persons.. more
there is no point in cribbing . We have to take situation in our control by certain action. 1. Grow vegetables inhouse if possible. Or 2. Boycott for few days e.g do not consume tomatoes for few days . Convince your friends to do so ,in order to bring price down by reducing the consumption. This is Japanese way to check middlemen who manipulate the price. Note: Govt can not control middleman in such big country and will not do so also due to lack of will power. more
Instead of cribbing and crying about the prices, one can grow all the vegetables at home. Just 30-45 minutes is more than enough to grow these vegetables. I have been growing vegetables for the past 8 years on my terrace and have not purchased any vegetable from any shop. I grow Ginger and Turmeric which lasts for more than a year, Ladies finger, beans, Raddish, carrot, knool Khol, cabbage, tomatos, onions drumstick papaya, brinjal, bitter gourd, Snake guurd, Ridge gourd etc just to name a few more
