Maharashtra is not an insulated state. All states and parts of India and across the world have these issues post industrialisation. That is the unfortunate cost of 'development'. They need to be addressed but without getting into panic mode. Damages done over half a century cannot be corrected in a flash. We need an action plan to phase out things with a long term perspective. Technology and innovation are needed to take this head-on. Acts in the name of development have to be carefully viewed. Even today we have forests being cut, mangroves being converted into concrete jungles, cities covered in smog all the time and yet there is no action to curb any act from a eco-sensitive perspective. All we do is to talk, talk and talk. We need to act, act and act. more
