Toothpaste Standards
I have been hearing from friends that certain toothpastes are having triclosan which causes colon cancer. Ayurvedic toothpastes are not supposed to have it.
Can BIS here advise if there are toothpaste standards they have or like most subjects they are clueless about this subject too??

Are all our responsible agencies and bodies are so irresponsible, deaf and immoral to keep their eyes & ears closed to help the anti-people business class to engage in such inhuman activities for profiteering?

responsible agencies?? Is it not that all the 'agencies' try to work according to some rules, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)?, which has enormous loop-holes, loose-ends, escape routes, etc. It would always be good "Customer Beware", which is the most important and first principle of 'Purchase Management'...

I'm having some doubts about triclosan link with colon cancer. Main objection against triclosan is that of its poor bio-degradability. and hence, cumulation of all water bodies with this item leading to dangers of: 1) Abnormal endocrine system/thyroid hormone signaling. 2) Children exposed to this item at an early age have an increased chance of developing allergies, asthma and eczema. 3) Developmental and reproductive toxicity. 4) Uncontrolled cell growth. 5) Weakening of immune system. It seems no soap maker or tooth paste maker is incorporating triclosan in their products.

if one remembers in earlier days we were using neem twigs to brush our teeth and now also people in villages use it and that was great since one did not have any known tooth problem .In cities we have succumbed to the new age technology without really knowing the toothpaste which we are using is doing its job or not.

First, if your Toothpaste reaches your colon, you've got the process wrong !!! Secondly, BIS / ISI has more important and universally relevant considerations to address - possible damage, that too unverified, from Toothpaste, which has miniscule usage, should be low priority ... And if you're such a conscientious consumer yourself, I'm sure you're leading an ascetic existence !!! Yeh Jeena bhi koi Jeena hai ?

As per search on Google, I found that only one brand was using triclosan in toothpaste. However, CP website on triclosan states that "Starting late in 2018, we introduced a new Colgate Total toothpaste that delivers more benefits than the original formula with triclosan, and as of January 2019 we no longer use it as an ingredient". I think all toothpastes are being manufactured under proper license issued by competent authorities.
