Top brands of chilli powder adulterated with saw dust

It has come to my knowledge through the past employees of some big companies selling packaged red chilli powder and similar food products that the manufacturers are mixing 20 to 30 percent saw dust and other adulterants in their products. Yet they show off their Agmark and fssai labels. I request the authorities to seize random packets of all the products and subject them to thorough analysis. The guilty should be dealt with seriously. more

Chillies and corruption along with almost every thing else go together. It has become a part of India. more
It is not small people or small brands are doing this. It is across all brands. After expiry date they take back the stock from large format stores and sell it to small restaurants , street food sellers in loose. Chilli powder and other powder masalas are selling to small restaurants and street food sellers in loose is become very big business. more
Food adulteration is a serious problem with India and most food items are affected by this illegal activities of manufacturers/sellers. Govt may have to review the existing policy and amend to suit present requirement. This needs to be worked out on PRIORITY. more
As long as corruption exits at all levels unabated, our courts take decades in awarding judgement in such matters and provisions for death penalty for those found guilty of adulteration is made and concerned authorities and employees found guilty of dereliction of duty and collaboration with such criminals are sent behind the bar for life, we have to live with this social evil named corruption. more
Every food product has to have the certification from FSSAI . There is no restriction in issuing certificate for many reasons . One is to increase production and Business . FSSAI does go on mass drives on random check on Food stalls , non vegetarian meat and so on .Then there is heavy publicity made in the media to show that they check adulteration . It is not true . It is practically not possible by an organisation as they have been used to only issuance of Licenses. The present practice is to accept the samples given by the Manufacturer for analysis . No Manufacturer will be foolish to send the actual samples of the products sold in the market .Instead they should go on a year round random check from the market . If any anomaly found withdraw the entire batch. That will at least have some check on the quality . What to do we are bombarded from all angles. Profiteering , Adulteration, taxing and so on . more
